English Language Teaching Assistant
About the job
Teaching Assistants perform many leadership, organizational and classroom management tasks to support both Teachers/Instructors and Trainees.
Responsibilities
Helping Teachers with lesson preparation, including collecting materials and setting up equipment
Contributing to the development of appropriate teaching materials to ensure content and methods of delivery meet learning objectives
Reviewing lessons with students on a one-on-one basis or in small groups
Supervising students in class, and during recreation periods and field trips
Participating in the supervision of practical work, advising on skills, methods and techniques to assist the transfer of knowledge
Participating in the assessment process, using a variety of methods and techniques and provide
effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning
Tracking attendance, grading assignments (where appropriate) and calculating grades
Giving extra help to students who need special accommodations or are struggling with a concept
Assisting students with special learning requirements, including learning difficulties and for English as a second language students
Attending faculty meetings and workshops
Collaborating with the Teacher to identify students’ issues and recommend solutions
Contributing to the ongoing development and design of the curriculum, in a manner that supports a research-led and scholarly approach to student learning

Responsibilities
- Teaching non-native English-speaking learners of various abilities and levels in a vocational context
- Enforce all administration policies and rules governing trainees.
- Participating in the development of the course curriculum and the production of high-quality teaching and learning resources, including resources in electronic formats
- Integrating and using technology to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom
- Developing lesson plans, course outlines and teaching and learning plans in accordance with NCA practices
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet trainees’ varying needs and interests.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides trainees with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
- Developing a variety of assessment tools and assessing trainee work in compliance with NCA practices and other relevant quality standards bodies
- Maintaining records of trainee achievements and reporting results of student assessments in accordance with NCA practices and in compliance with record management system requirements
- Overseeing and ensuring compliance with the relevant internal verification process and assuming the role of an internal verifier for the applicable courses
- Interacting in a professional and collegial way with people at all levels of the organization
