Furnace Operation Technician
Job Purpose:
The main responsibility of the Furnace Technician is to provide process support to Operations via process follow-up, optimization, and troubleshooting of the Mix Feed Cracker (MFC) furnaces, with the objective to maximize availability and valorization and to guarantee safe operation at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily reporting of furnace operations and advise operations department to optimize furnace conditions within the furnace operating window and decoke plan.
- Drive daily optimizations in furnace performance with Furnace Engineer by monitoring process parameters and performing technical troubleshooting.
- Track furnace performance in a database, report KPIs, analyze performance data, and assist Furnace Engineers in proposals for improvement.
- Provide guidance on safe furnace operation and environmental compliance.
- Assist in root cause analysis of incidents and accidents.
- Organize performance tests on furnaces and report required test data.
- Assist in major maintenance stops, decommissioning/commissioning, PSSR requirements, and new furnace projects to meet HSE and availability targets.
- Train operations and maintenance teams on furnace operations and advise central training departments on training modules.
- Advise, optimize, and establish operational furnace procedures according to best practices.
Expected Results:
Efficient day-to-day furnace monitoring.
Minimum Requirements:
- Technical/Vocational Diploma or Associate Degree in related field.
- 12+ years of experience in similar technical/industrial field.
Process Engineering Supervisor (BDU/MTBE/BTX)
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical supervision to Area Process Engineers and support them in their duties.
- Work with personnel and Business Teams to provide ongoing technical advice, guidelines, and instructions on all process aspects.
- Follow up on budget, yields, and throughputs, and submit regular reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate test-runs for new or existing installations and ensure corrective engineering actions are implemented.
- Assist in start-up of new units, shutdowns, and process inspections.
- Provide technical advice on new projects, analyses, Hazops, PFDs, PIDs, safety assessment, and management of change.
- Formulate technical specifications for chemicals and catalysts; select and re-evaluate products with Material and Services Procurement Division and Technical Studies Division.
- Work with Technical Studies Division to identify scope of work for new projects, develop feasibility studies, prepare Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA), and set improvement priorities.
- Support improvement projects and present improvement priorities as part of Business Teams.
- Stay current with new Process Engineering methods and technologies; participate in conferences and exhibitions.
- Follow up on Production Units and provide feedback regarding capacity, yield, and efficiency improvements; ensure control and optimization activities are effective.
- Participate in testing, inspections, shutdown preparation/execution, and address all process engineering issues.
- Review and evaluate new process design studies from external engineering companies and ensure process operating window adjustments are implemented.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities and provide solutions to critical problems, advising Maintenance Team.
- Work with Performance Control Team to monitor and evaluate accuracy of Petchem Linear Program for yields and utilities consumption.
- Review and comment on Process Engineering services contracts’ progress and resolve pending issues in coordination with concerned parties.
- Contribute to catalyst management processes, follow-up on chemicals and materials, and liaise with Procurement Team for purchasing or regenerating catalysts and materials.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent Process Engineering.
